October 17 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

You are consistently tapping into your own patience and compassion when supporting others physical and emotional needs – but at what cost? You probably know all the details about the health of the person for whom you’re caring. You’re on top of what medications must be taken and when, and you can even spot minor changes in her mood and attitude. But are you as aware of what’s going on with you?

Knowing that we have to connect and build a relationship with care receivers/residents to what extent is our own emotional well-being managed? In the field of long term care; illness, death, loss and trauma are daily factors in your work. Other stresses such as scheduling, policy and communication can add to stress. You and your colleagues would be more comfortable, more effective and more emotionally stable by taking the time to learn about the emotional stressors of this work and the long term mental and physical impacts this can have on us.
