Addressing the Whiteness Within
December 5 @ 9:00 am – December 6 @ 4:00 pm
This course is designed to help white social workers understand how white supremacy operates and what we can do individually and collectively to address this. Although everyone can reproduce whiteness, we will focus on how White social workers often enact whiteness in every day social work – and what we can do to improve our self/practice. You will learn how whiteness is systemic and embedded throughout our social work theories, practice, policies, procedures, and the systems we work in. Tools from the LPI model (www.lpimodel.com) will be utilized to help you engage with humility and skillfulness within whiteness.
- This course includes pre-course reflection work (approximately 1-2 hours).
- Attendance on both days is required due to the consecutive nature of the curriculum.
- You have the option of sending specific questions to the course instructor in advance of the course.
