An Integrative Approach to Suicide in Complex Mental Illness

These training sessions are intended for front-line professionals. Through interactive discussions and case studies you will learn an integrative approach by employing CBT-p, DBT, and Mindfulness techniques; how to assess suicide risk of individuals living with complex mental illnesses (i.e. schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and other psychotic illnesses); and how to intervene and provide the support they need.
In these two sessions you will learn the following:
Understanding suicide amongst people living with complex mental illnesses
How to begin a conversation with individuals with suicidal ideation
How to conduct a comprehensive suicide assessment through a bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens
How to assess a person’s level of risk by identifying warning signs, risk factors, and safety measures
Suicidal interventions and coping strategies informed by CBT-p, DBT, and Mindfulness
