Micro and macro responses to Indigenizing Trauma Work

In this short 90 minute session, Dr. Ruth Green (Haudenosaunee, Kaniekehaka, Six Nation of the Grand) will unpack Indigenous responses to “Trauma informed practice” in a way that acknowledges the structural mechanisms that contribute to the continued colonial experiences.
Dr. Green also welcomes broad questions (submitted through the registration form prior to the talk) regarding support for Indigenous individuals, families and Communities.
Learning Objectives:
– Micro- basic skills and understanding to working directly with Indigenous people.
– Macro- legal and structural based awareness to the mechanisms used by colonial governments to perpetuate marginalization.
– Personal- an understanding that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing and a commitment to self learning.
