Transforming the Experience of Aging through Direct Research Connections to Public Health Outcomes

Dr. Parminder Raina will describe the research in aging conducted at McMaster University and how this research can be used to drive public and policy impact. Providing examples of community-based research projects that are currently underway, Dr. Raina will describe how knowledge translation tools like the McMaster Optimal Aging Portal can be used to influence the lives of today’s older adults. This session provides an overview of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging, the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging and the McMaster Optimal Aging Portal, highlighting the ways that these platforms can inform and influence policy, as well as how they can be accessed by session participants.
