Creating a Neurodivergent-Affirming Practice
April 3 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
This presentation uses client case reviews to help attendees understand how to create a neurodivergent-affirming practice.
Attendees will be able to ask consultation-type questions to build awareness and skills. They will learn practical tips to enhance their practice, especially related to cultural competence and psychopharmacology.
Hand-outs will be provided, as well as resources for further research/self-study for participants.
Learning outcomes include:
- What neurodivergent-affirming care looks and feels like for patients/clients and our peer colleagues
- Understanding neurodivergent-affirming care as a form of cultural competence
- How to ensure both your clinical practice and private practice policies are neurodivergent-affirming (do’s and don’ts)
- How to find a competent neurodivergent-affirming therapist, or clinical supervisor.
Please note that this is an intermediate level training. The attendee should already:
- Have a basic knowledge of what neurodiversity is and common conditions encountered in private practice (ADHD across the lifespan, ASD, dyslexia, Aphantasia, etc.); and
- See neurodivergent-affirming care as a form of cultural competence.
