The goal of the Persons With Lived Experience (PWLE) Advisory Committee is to improve the representation and active involvement of persons with lived experience in the human services and justice sectors at all levels of HSJCC work.
Objectives of the Advisory Committee
- Identify common challenges and issues relating to the engagement of persons with lived experience in the HSJCC Network
- Provide guidance for HSJCCs to improve the active engagement of persons with lived experience on their committees
- Promote best practices and key considerations for improving the experience of persons with lived experience involved in the HSJCC Network
- Provide advice on ongoing Provincial HSJCC projects and initiatives
The PWLE Advisory Committee has developed a new resource, Guidelines for Enhancing the Engagement of People With Lived Experience Across the HSJCC Network. This resource was developed to provide guidance to Local and Regional HSJCCs, and other partners, on engaging people with lived experience in a meaningful and effective way. It contains resources and tools to help committees develop a comprehensive strategy to attract new members, provide effective orientation, address accessibility and equity issues, provide compensation and support, and address privacy and confidentiality concerns.
